EnBW and JERA Nex bp have decided not to proceed with the Agreement for Lease for the Morgan offshore wind project. Whilst ownership of the Morgan project currently remains with EnBW and JERA Nex bp, the team is working closely with The Crown Estate (TCE) and Morecambe Offshore Windfarm Ltd to assess the implications of this decision.
Morecambe Offshore Windfarm Generation Assets is under full ownership by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) are the exclusive global offshore wind development partner to CIP and will now be leading the development and construction for the wind farm in the Irish Sea.
Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms: Transmission Assets refers to the offshore and onshore assets that will be used to transport electricity from the Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms to the National Grid substation at Penwortham.
Project updates:
The examination period for the Morecambe Offshore Windfarm Generation Assets closed on 23 April 2025. The application was then granted development consent by the Secretary of State on 1 December 2025.
The examination period for Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms: Transmission Assets closed on 29 October 2025. The Development Consent Order (DCO) application continues to progress, following submission of the Examining Authority’s recommendation report to the Secretary of State on 29 January 2026. A decision on development consent for the Transmission Assets is expected in April 2026.
